After three semi finals, the 'last chance' round of MGP 2009, the Norwegian selection for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest will be held. The six songs that finished third and fourth and the heats and the additional two wildcards will compete for the last two spots in the national final next week.
The show
The show to be hosted by Maria Haukaas Storeng and Per Sundnes in Ålesund will be held in two parts airing from 19:55 to 20:45 CET and 21:15 to 21:50 CET. In the first part, the eight songs will compete in pairs and the favourite of each pair (as chosen by televoting) will reach the second round. In the second round, the winner of the first pair will compete against the winner of the second pair while the winner of the third pair will compete against the winner of the fourth pair. The two winners will get the two last places in the national final next Saturday, 21st February.

Maria Haukaas Storeng easily won the 2008 Melodi Grand Prix final getting almost 80,000 votes more than runner-up Torstein Sødal. With the song Hold on be strong, she finished 5th in the Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade giving Norway its best placing since 2003. The song was a #1 hit in Norway and also entered the charts in Sweden and Denmark.
