The fouth and lst semi final in the Icelandic selection for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest was held tonight. Four acts competed and two were chosen to move forward to the national final on 14th February.
The following acts have qualified for the national final:
- Elektra – Got no love (Örlygur Smári/Örlygur Smári, Sigurður Jónsson)
- Jógvan Hansen – I think the world of you (Hallgrímur Óskarsson)
The following acts are eliminated from the competition:
- Unnur Birna Björnsdóttir – Cobwebs (Heimir Sindrason/Ari Harðarson)
- Halla Vilhjálmsdóttir – Roses (Trausti Bjarnason/Halla Vilhjálmsdóttir)

For the first time in the Icelandic heats, the poll votes and televotes agreed 100%. The top two of the poll made it to the final while the bottom two were eliminated from the competition.
In 2008, Iceland was represent by Euroband. The duo finishedeighth in the second semi final and 14th in the final with their entry This is my life.
