The vice president of NTU, Mr Roman Nedzel'skiy, made a statement today denying the rumours spread in local press about the semi finalists of the Ukrainian Eurovision preselection having been selected. It was also confirmed that they will be announced at the end of the week. It is also now reported that no less than six acts, all produced by Yuriy Nikitin (Verka Serduchka's producer) have been withdrawn from the preselection.

Po-Ma-da, A.R.M.I.Y.A., Hollywood, "Aviator" (NF 2007), NeAngely (NF 2007) and Bondarchuk (NF 2007), all produced by the same man, Yuriy Nikitin, withdrew their applications. It seems that NeAngely wanted initially to compete with Dana International but as this was not allowed by NTU rules they went on to choose another song, then withdrew altogether. Yuriy Nikitin stated that he will only send one act to the Ukrainian preselection, that of NikitA. He stated that all his performers applied too late and the only one he feels has a good chance is the band NikitA so he decided to concentrate his efforts on them. Mr Nikitin also stated that Verka herself will help them with the promotion.

A report by Alexander Verlatov

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain. I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
