Before a very last confirmation that she'll be the French entrant in Moscow, Patricia Kaas goes on with her world-wide tour, entitled Kabaret. The show premiered last November with only 6 dates in the home-country. Right afterards, the artist presented her new show in all parts of Russia, for 17 dates through November and December. On Tuesday 20 January, Kaas began a two-week stay at Le Casino de Paris. esctoday.com attended “Kabaret” last Saturday, in Montargis.

Kabaret is presented as a tribute to the 1930's cabaret-style songs. It includes some classics, such as Falling in love again (originally performed by Marlene Dietrich) as well as a French version of American standard Send in the clowns. These two songs are part of the new CD, which has that touch of small night clubs' jazz, mixed with hip-hop parts and accordeon. A very tasty cocktail!

All in all, 6 persons are on stage, excluding Patricia. A female dancer can be seen all along the concert, sometimes alone, sometimes in duet with Patricia, who shows great skills in moving. The whole set is very sensual, if not a bit erotic from time to time. Patricia Kaas perfectly knows that her public first come to hear her biggest hits. New musical arrangements have specially been made for the occasion, on songs like Mon mec à moi (which opens the concert), D'Allemagne, Une Fille de l'Est, Il me dit que je suis belle, Elle voulait jouer Cabaret, Je voudrais la connaître, Entrez dans la lumière and, of course, the song with which she was discovered, back in 1987, Mademoiselle chante le blues. Among a big number of emotional moments, the strongest of all is Une dernière fois, the song she dedicated to her mother, who passed away 20 years ago.
