LRT can now officially confirm: Lithuania will appear on Olympiyski Indoor Arena's stage. Yesterday LRT board has held a meeting and it was decided that there aren't any obstacles to participate at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009.

Following the announcement of the 43 countries competing inat the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow, Lithunia's national broadcaster stated that the announcement was premature pending a final board meeting on the matter. That board meetingconfirmed thatthe country will participate in the competition.

According to the head of Lithuanian delegation, the winner of the contest Dainu Daina will gain a ticket to Moscow. Most of Dainu Daina songs' length is more than three minutes, and during the performances LRT don't limit performers' number on stage. However all competing songs were not released before 1st October 2008.

If the winner of Dainu Daina will not be interested of participating at Eurovision Song Contest, runner up will be automatically proposed to represent Lithuania. The winner is free to choose language of the song becausemost of the songs are sung in Lithuanian. LRT encourages a song in Lithuanian to be performed in Moscow.

The first quarer-final of Dainu Daina was won by Sasha Son's Pasiklydes zmogus. The second quarter-final is on LTV main channel on January 17th. The televote will again decide six qualifiers. The winners of all three quarter-finals will go to the semi-finals that are going to take place on 31st January and 7th February. The final of Dainu Daina will be held on 14th Februaryat theLTV studios.
