SVT, the Swedish national broadcaster, has this morning released the running order for Melodifestivalen 2009, the show that selects the Sweden Eurovision Song Contest representative. The honour of opening the competition goes to former television show winner, Nina Soderquist in Gothenburg on 7th February. Wildcard entry Malena Erman will perform last in the fourth semi final in Malmo.

After the first voting window in each Melodifestivalen semi final, thethree songs with the lowest televote will be eliminated. There will then be an annocement stating what the first dual is. Two songs from the five will then compete with the winner going to the final and the loser going to the second chance round.
Following the first dual, an announcement about the second dual will be made. At this stage, we will know who the fourth song to be eliminated will be. Of the two remaining songs, again the winner will go to the final and the loser to the second chance round.
The international jury will also decide which of the songsis likely to perform best at the Eurovision Song Contest, and one song will be picked for the second chance round. During the second chance round, the international jury will pick one song not already qualified for the final to be the 11th song to reach the final at Globen on14thMarch.Petra Mede will host Melodifestivalen 2009.
