Norwegian broadcaster NRK has announced the first seven acts to participate in Melodi Grand Prix 2009. As reported previously by esctoday.com, due to the high quality of entries, there will now be seven songs competing in each semi final instead of six.

The seven acts for the Kongsvinger semi final on 24th January 2009 are:

  • Surferosa – U look good
  • Chicas del Coro – Men, men, men
  • Ke Sera – Party
  • Espen Hana – Two of a kind
  • Charite – Sweeter than a kiss
  • Thomas Brøndbo – Det vart en storm
  • Velvet – Tricky

Surferosa are a popular band in Norway and have already casused excitement when it was revealed that they had written a song for the competition. Today, NRK has revealed that they will perform their song themselves.

Velvet is not the solo artist already lined up to perform in Sweden's Melodifestivalen, but a group comprising Thea Bay, Charlotte Øverland Våset, Cornelia Børnick and Annette Amelia Larsen. Charlotte performed on stage in Jerusalem at the 1999 Eurovision Song contest with Stig Van Eijk and Thea was one of the spacegirls performing with Jannicke Abrahamsen in the 2006 Melodi Grand Prix, taking second place.

More information on the first seven semi finalists will be published later today.
