Petra Mede, the popular new female comedian in Sweden will be the 2009 Melodifestivalen hostess. She has become a leading figure in Swedish entertainment over the last two years with a string of appointments and is now set for one of the biggest jobs in Swedish showbusiness.

Petra Mede has already appeared on some of Sweden's leading shows including episodes of Det sociala spelet, Hjälp! and Dubbat. She has been a presenter on Extra! Extra! and Stockholm live as well as TV-framträdanden, Musikmaskinen, Morgonsoffan and Parlamentet. She will bring her witty charm to Sweden's most popular television show and keep the local audience entertained as they select their next Eurovision Song Contest entry.

During Melodifestivalen 2008, young comedian Björn Gustafsson became a household name from his poem reading and dancing routines in the show. He has worked with Petra on Morgonsoffan and is an example of how important a hosting role in the show can be for an entertainment career in Sweden.
