Reigning Eurovision Song Contest champion Dima Bilan has qualifed for the final round of the prestigious MTV Europe Music Award for Europe's favourite act. From 100 artists, just five remain in contention. He goes up against a strong challenge from former Israeli representative at the competition, Shiri Maimon, Finley from Italy, Emre Adin from Turkey and former X Factor winner Leona Lewis from the UK and Ireland category.

Both Dima Bilan and Shiri Maimon won their national categories earlier this year as reported by esctoday.com. Since then, the 20 regional winners have been part of a lengthy voting process as europe voted for the best five. It had already been announced that Shiri would become the first Israeli artist to perform live at the MTV Europe Music Awards on November 6th, she may yet he handed the crown of Europe's Favourite Act, and would be Israel's first MTV award winner. Dima Bilan however, has won the title of Best Russian Act for three years in a row and is seen as a strong challenger, but the hot favourite remains Leona Lewis, who has become a global superstar since winning the United Kingdom's X Factor show in 2006.
