The sixth edition of the OGAE Greece annual festival, MPLE, took place in Athens. Over 220 fans gathered once more at the Athinaion Politeia to celebrate their love for music and the Eurovision Song Contest in an event hosted by popular Greek screenwriter, comedian and ardent fan Giorgos Kapoutzidis.
MPLE is a game for Eurovision Song Contest fans very similar to the contest itself in the way of presentation and voting. Members of the club work all year long to select their entries for this contest holding "semi finals" or "internal selections". One hundred and ten members of OGAE Greece, representing in 25 countries, competed for the MPLE 2008 prize this year. All songs had been visualised especially for the show by Andreas Kalaitzis. Giorgos Kapoutzidis made the night a very special one for all present with his caustic humour and witty commentating. As he revealed to the audience, he will is writing again for Greek television, something which is awaited eagerly by his fans.
Many Eurostars were among the participations such as Paolo Meneguzzi, Alenka Gotar, Martin Stenmarck, the Beauty Queens and the evening's winner was local star Anna Vissi, representing Cyprus, with an old favourite ballad, Methysmeni politeia. Second came Switzerland with Paolo Meneguzzi's Musica, followed by France with Cristofe's Oh, mon amour.
The audience's award went to the Belgian entry, Ali Baba by K3 which managed to get everyone's attention by being also presented with a fun choreography. The award was presented to the "Belgian" team by Bessie Argyraki, who represented Greece in 1977.
