Yesterday at 18:00 the deadline to submit songs for the Bulgarian national final closed. A total of 54 entries will participate in the first stage of Be a star, the selection process which BNT is going to hold in order to choose the country's representative at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest 2009.
Be a star, this year's Bulgarian preselection, will take place in two phases. Eighteen songs in total will compete in the semi final. Nine of them will be selected by the Bulgarian public via televote and nine more by a special jury. A jury, different to the original one, will then select nine songs to go to the final between October 1st and December 19th. Those will be joined by three more songs commissioned by the broadcaster. The final decision, on the night of the final, will be taken entirely through televote and sms voting.
The show will be aired every Thursday, kicking off on October 2nd, when the first quarterfinal is scheduled to be held.
