As esctoday.com reported before, EMI will bring out the official Eurovision Song Contest 2003 compilation CD. This year, the CD will be released at the start of the Eurovision week with a press launch in Riga.
“EMI is hoping to discourage commercial release of the participating songs in an attempt to boost sales of the CD”, the website DotEurovision.com wrote.
The compilation CD was launched in 2000 for the first time, 200,000 copies were sold. For the first years the record company BMG was responsible for the production and the distribution of the CD, now the EBU signed a contract with EMI.
A double CD in 2004 and a special release for the 50th anniversary of the contest are planned. After a poll, esctoday.com suggested the EBU to release a copy with the instrumental versions of the participating songs too. This matter will probably be discussed later on.
