The European Broadcasting Union has today confirmed that Spain will not participate at the forthcoming Eurovision Dance Contest, on September 6th.
Despite this withdrawal, TVE will still broadcast the event live on the second channel TVE2. Last week, it was reported that the Spanish public broadcaster will not air the contest on any of its channels.
The Spanish decision to withdraw from Eurovision Dance Contest is the result of a conflict on TVE's schedule. On September 6th, an international football match featuring Spain and Bosnia & Herzegovina will be played, so TVE decided to broadcast it on TVE1 instead of the contest, and following this TVE withdrew from the dancing competition.
Nonetheless, EBU has stated that Spanish journalists and fans will be welcome in Glasgow, and will be given the priority of passive participating countries.
