Switzerland: SF call for songs

Swiss broadcaster SF has just started their quest for the entry to represent the Alpine country at the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. Submission deadline has been set for October 20th and this year being Swiss or living within the Swiss territory is not a must. An internal jury will select the winning entry out of all submitted songs.

Just like last year, Switzerland is one of the first countries to start their search for an entry to Eurovision Song Contest 2009. The country's public broadcaster Schweizer Fernsehen (SF) has just published the rules for this year's national selection. All those interested in submitting an entry can do it from now on till October 20th, when the deadline closes.

It is possible that 2009 will see a non-Swiss national or a non-Swiss resident representing Switzerland since one of the most remarkable novelties this year says that those requirements are not a must anymore.

Anyway, SF stresses on the experience of the candidates: they must have released a video clip and an album at least -entering the top-50 charts once minimum- as well as performed live. Following this criterium, the broadcaster will invite several names of the Swiss show business to take part in the competition. SF will also try to involve media in the whole project.

The lucky Swiss representative for 2009 will be selected by an internal jury.
