The Latvian National Final, known as Eirodziesma 2003, which is to be held on 1 February, has undergone a change of format.
The Latvian National Final will now have two parts. During the first part, all 15 songs will be performed. This section will then be followed by a 30 minute break for televoting. The five songs with the highest number of votes will go through to a second stage and will be performed once more. The song which will represent Latvia in ESC 2003 will then be selected by viewers televoting after the 5 final performances.
Another innovation this year is the possibility of SMS voting. Eirodziesma 2003 will take place in Ventspils for the second time. Latvian broadcaster LTV and the town of Ventspils have agreed that for the next 5 years, the Latvian final will be held there.
