The highligh popular German TV program Die ultimative Chartshow (The ultimate chart show) will honour the Eurovision Song Contest this Friday: the 25 most succesful Eurovision Song Contest related songs in Germany ever will be revealed in a ranking. Along with the show, a compilation CD will be published. The show is aired at 21:15 CET on private channel RTL hosted by Oliver Geißen.
Ranking
The ranking is based on chart positions and only songs that reached the top ten of the single charts are included. For every week on #1, a song gets 10 points, at #2 nine points and so on. The hottest favourites for the top spot may be Zwei kleine Italiener from 1962 and No no never from 2006 as the most sold German entries and Puppet on a string and Waterloo from 1967 and 1974 as the only songs from outside Germany that reached the top of the single charts. From the national final entries, Wir wollen niemals auseinandergehen by Heidi Brühl in 1960 is obviously a favourite: it reached number one and stayed in the top ten for no less than 27 weeks.
CD
The double CD includes no less than 42 song contest entries and37 of them were actually in the single charts. The only ones that did not make it to the top 100 were Chiara's The one that I love from 1998, Céline Dion's Ne partez pas sans moi in 1988, Charlotte Nilsson's Take me to your heaven in 1999, Karel Gott's Tausend Fenster in 1968, Isabelle Aubret's Un premier amour in 1962 and Frida Boccara's Un jour, un enfant from 1969.
