The third day of rehearsals for the Eurovision Song Contest are now underway and this morning, Iceland, Sweden, Turkey and Ukraine will complete their first technical rehearsals and press conferences. You can read the reviews below from the rehearsals and later today, our media partner, 12points.tv will provide video footage.
Song 1. Iceland – Euroband – This Is My Life
Fridrik and Regina produce a strong energetic performance for the day's first rehearsal of semi final 2. Effective lights in deep blue and white provide a brilliant setting for the presentation of the song. Both performers make use full of quick changing camera angles and demonstrate that it is not always necessary to have backing dancers for a high temp song on the eurovision stage. Euroband sing with positive energy and perfect vocals. Both singers are dressed in black with touches of pink. They are joined on stage by four backing singers. There is no dull moment on stage for this dynamic performance.
Song 2. Sweden – Charlotte Perrelli – Hero
A very classy performance from Charlotte this morning. The routine is basically the same as the one used for this years Melodifestivalen, with the return of the diamond encrusted microphone, wind machine and 4 backing dancers. However, this time she is joined by two brunette female singers. Charlotte will be wearing a glitzy silver dress on the night of the semi final and this will be enhanced by silver and soft blue lights used for the staging. Laser lights are used for the last chorus of the song. An additional backing singer is used to enhance the strong backing vocals. Charlotte gives an assured and convincing performance of Hero.
Song 3 – Turkey – Mor ve Ötesi – Deli
After two pop songs thismorning, Turkeybring contrast to the stage with a strongly performed number. The song is performed with strongemotion and perfect vocals. Minimal use of gimmicks allows the rock element of the song to be emphasised. The same figures used in the preview videoare displayed on the screens behind the singer which complement the song. Although, notdisplayed today pyros will be used for their semi-final show.
Song4 – Ani Lorak – Shady Lady
Ani Lorak start the song alone on the stage. She moves in front ofwhat looks likea block of four mirrored black cubical. As the song progresseseach cubicle in turnbecame alightto reveal four individual male dancer dressed in black. The five perform an energetic and interesting dance moves which include small head and shoulder movementsto capture the nuances of the music. Ani considerable vocal talent, shehas no trouble reaching the final high note at the end of the song. As well as having one backing vocalist, the four male dancers provide vocals throughout the song. This is three minutes of pure entertainment.
