Jelena Tomasevic concluded her promo tour in Athens yesterday with a press conference at the Serbian embassy together with Zeljko Joksimovic. On 1st May, Jelena was a guest of OGAE Greece were she met with Kalomira, gave interviews to all major local TV channels and conducted the draw for the next Mple Festival . In an interview with esctoday.com, Jelena explains the idea behind Oro and welcomes everyone to Serbia.
Jelena was warmly welcomed in the packed Athinaion Politeia club where about 150 fans and press had gathered to meet and greet the Serbian 2008 Eurovision Song Contest ambassadress. Jelena thanked OGAE Greece for the great organisation and was happy to pose for photographs with the fans and stayed until very late giving interviews to major Greek TV channels and websites. Together with Kalomira they conducted the draw for running order of the club's next annual festival, Mple 2009.
When Kalomira arrived the entire hall became alive with fans and press trying to get close to the popular Greek singer who despite being obviously exhausted from her long rehearsals and had only planned to stay a little while, did not stop for a moment until every journalist had had their interview and every fan had a chat or photo with her.
In an interview with esctoday.com, Jelena Tomasevic says that she regrets she has to end her promo tour sooner than planned with Athens being the last stop, as there is too much to do and very little time left until the contest in Belgrade. She also spoke to us about the importance of a promo tour for the artist as well as the song and the importance of the Eurovision Song Contest for the Serbian people.
Oro is a very emotional ballad, Jelena tells us, about two people who met each other in a dream, thus the vocal chorus sounds like a lullaby , and the girl wishes to go back to sleep again to dream of her loved one. The legend says that when a woman places a little piece of rosemary, called vidovicica on the day of Vidovdan, St Vitus day on 15th June, she will dream of the one she is going to marry.
