A press conference was held this morning at the Serbian Embassy in Athens, where Jelena Tomasevic and Zeljko Joksimovic, performer and composer of this year's Serbian entry Oro addressed members of the press and spoke about Belgrade and Balkan routes, the new project aiming to bring together music from the Balkans.
Jelena Tomasevic, Zeljko Joksimovic and Katerina Nitsopoulou, of the Greek band Anemos, lyricist of Oro in Greek, spoke to the press about the song, the preparations for Belgrade and sang an acoustic version of Ela agapi with Zeljko playing the piano. Jelena spoke about the special relationship and understanding between the Greek and Serbian people and thanked the media for their support. Then it was Katerina's turn to speak about her cooperation with Jelena and Zejko "I am honoured to be working with them", she said " as I believe they bring that touch of quality that is missing from the Eurovision Song Contest"..
Zeljko had just arrived from Corfu, where he gave a Spring Break concert last night to a 2.000 audience. He began by addressing the audience in perfect Greek " I am sugar tired", he confessed "happy because I had a great concert and tired as I have so many obligations these days with preparations for Eurovision where I am a host". When asked to reveal a tiny part of the Eurovision host script he is studying Zeljiko was happy to oblige: "Good evening Europe!" he laughed, "where have you been all this time?" receiving an enthusiastic applause by the audience present.
When Zeljko was asked about his opinion about bloc and diaspora voting, he said: " The most important thing is the song, ithas to be very expressive and good, good marketing before the contest and….. diaspora!"
It was inevitable that the discussion would come around to Zeljko's double role as host and composer of Oro in this year's contest and it was actually himself that brought it up: "I do not think there is a conflict of interest with me being both host and composer at the same time. We have a good song and I think we have a chance, although this year it is very, very difficult everything is possible!" he concluded.
During the press conference, the new project Balkan Routes, where Zeljko and Jelena participate with a new song, was introduced to the Greek media. For more information on the Balkan project click here.
