For the first time, a book has been produced looking at the cultural significance and economic benefit to a city of hosting the Eurovision Song Contest. The book is titled “Täydet pisteet – Twelve Points. Eurovision laulukilpailut Helsingissä 2007 : Eurovision Song Contest Helsinki 2007”.
The 148 page book has been produced by the Urban Facts Section of the City of Helsinki in both Finnish and English. It consists of 10 interesting articles looking at various aspect of hosting and organising a contest including, changes in the perception of Helsinki as a city after the contest andthe benefits to the local economy and tourist industry. Research for the book included the study of the media coverage of the 2007 contest in 27 different countries.
As well as providing statistical analysis, the book included comments and observations from contestants and visitors to the 2007 contest in Helsinki and analysis on Eurovision music and artists in previous years.
