One of the entries for the Swedish preselection Melodifestivalen 2003 might face disqualification after the performer was not satisfied with the final mix of the song, Genom eld och vatten.
Ulrika Fors, the 21-year old lead singer of the group Sarek, was shocked when she found out that her song changed from folk music into a disco style song. “This is not the song I wrote, this is something completely different and I can't sing it”, she told the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet. She decided to leave the group immediately.
According to the rules of broadcaster SVT, the artist who performed the selected song on the demo version has to perform the song at Meldodifestivalen too. This already happened with the song Autumn leaf, which Carola refused to sing in the preselection programme.
It's expected that SVT will make its decision on this issue public after the weekend.
