The 6th Junior Eurovision Song Contest is six months away, but, already we have a lot of action occuring. 22nd November, the 2008 Junior Eurovision will be held in Limassol, Cyprus, in the Spyros Kyprianou Athletic Centre, the theme being 'Fun in the Sun'.
Up to now we have had 11 countries confirm their participation in Limassol; Armenia, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus (2008 Hosts), Georgia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Romania, Russia and Ukraine.
Swedish TV4 have decided to withdraw from the 2008 Contest in Limassol, It is still unclear as to whether another broadcaster will adopt the contest. Sweden have participated in Junior Eurovision since 2003, when the contest began, with SVT, until 2006, when TV4 took over the contest.
The most successful country at Junior Eurovision Song Contest, with two wins in five years, Belarus' National Television station has already confirmed receiving 20 enties for their National Final. The semi final will be held at the end of May and the Final will be held in September.
Armenia, who debuted in the contest last year and achieved second place, will hold their National Selection in July, with a semi final in June.
It seems unlikely for any countries which have previously withdrawn, to return, such as the United Kingdom, France, Croatia, etc. due to lack of popularity in these countries. There has also been
no information from the country who withdrew at the last minute last year, Spain, they, however, are also unlikely to take part in Limassol.
It is possible that Israel could debut in Junior Eurovision 2008, esctoday.com announced, back in August, that IBA have every intention of participating in Eurovision Dance Contest 2008 and Junior Eurovision 2008.
esctoday.com will bring you more information on the participants as it happens.
