Today the official Eurovision Song Contest Shop launched official coins for the 2008 contest in Belgrade as well as the third edition of the Eurovision Song Contest Book, which contains information on the 2008 contest.
The coins have been produced by a dutch company called The Badge Company, the CEO of the company, Roland Heerkens, has said "Over the upcoming years, as a coin is being released every year, the item will surely become a true collectable. It is not unusual that as the collection grows, the value of a complete set of coins increases over time"
The coins contain the flag of the host country, this year it happens to be the Serbian flag. Only 5000 of these coins have been produced and are not legal tender, they have been created as commemorative medals. They come in a special gift box which contains the coins and a certificate of authenticity.
