Ukrainian singer Ruslana, the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2004, performed last night at Dani Estrade in the Sports Center Mladost in Cacak, Serbia. In an interview for Serbian newspaper Blic before the concert, the singer talks about her friendship with Zeljko Joksimovic, politics, and her new album for the American market.

Zeljko is my great friend, I talk to him every day. I always say that we were both winners of the Eurovision Song Contest2004. I love Serbia, because one of my best friends lives here. Zeljko is a wonderful person and excellent singer. He made me love this country like I love my own.” Ruslana says, who is very glad that this year’s Eurovision takes place in Serbia.

I am so proud of you and I must admit that I immediately liked your song Oro. I didn’t even know that Zeljko composed it, but I liked it as soon as I heard it. I would like Zeljko to write a song for my new album.” Ukrainian singer says, revealing how her career has drastically changed after her victory at the Eurovision. “My life became much more complicated. I didn’t expect so many difficulties. My life became harder because of other people’s expectations. That is the reason why I went to America where I started working on a new project. So here I am in Cacak, but after this concert I’m heading to Canada.” the pleasant Ukrainian singer says and continues to talk about her new album: “The producers from America don’t let me sing many new songs before the release of the album. It will be my first album after my Eurovision success.” Ruslana says, adding: “I was a Member of Parliament for a short time, but I realised that I do not belong to politics, but to my country. You are familiar with the situation in which a state is divided, and that is not a favourable situation for someone who is in politics. The most important thing for me is peace, and that is the reason why I decided to quit politics.”
