Two recent Maltese entries in the Eurovision Song Contest were covered by South African singer Tobi Jooste on his latest album Onthau jy (Do you remember): I do and Angel by Fabrizio Faniello and Chiara respectively.
On the CD, the songs are performed in a mixture of English and Afrikaans. Video clips were produced for both songs and the album, which only contains cover versions of international hits, is selling very well. Angel was the Maltese entry in the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest written and performed by Chiara who finished 2nd in the final. Fabrizio Faniello, who also co-wrote his song,was less successful the year after and came last with only one point (from Albania). Another song on the CD has a Eurovision Song Contest connection asit partly samples Ne partez pas sans moi, the Swiss winning song in 1988 by Celine Dion.
