Earlier this week, French TV magazine Télé 7 Jours' website launched a poll asking people who they would like to have as commentators in Belgrade. Nine pairs of journalists, TV people and comedians were proposed and the one made of Laurent Ruquier and Florence Foresti easily won the “competition” with 42% of the grandtotal.
No big surprise as Florence Foresti is presently one of the most appreciated comedians in France. The lady was discovered some 5 years ago by Laurent Ruquier, who gave her a place in his daily talk show on France 2 broadcaster. During one of her hilarious and numerous parodies, Florence Foresti even played the role of "Mamy Myriam", the day Ruquier invited Marie Myriam to talk about Eurovision back in 2006.
Since 2001, French broadcaster chooses a well-known and funny pair of personalities. In order to change the image of the contest, France 3 makes a promotional campaign around its commentators. As a result, every year, most of them until now have both received very good and very bad reactions. "Too noisy, not respectful of the artists…" some said (including a big majority of eurofans), where as others find they did a great job, making the contest less conventional.
The Télé 7 Jours’ poll means of course nothing about the duet which will be chosen by France 3 to travel to Serbia. But it is a fact the channel will once again have two famous entertainers.
