Dustin the Turkey, the Irish representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2008, yesterday became a weekly news columnist in the run-up to the international show in Belgrade.

Irish readers were introduced to Dustin's weekly news feature in the Irish Sun tabloid newspaper yesterday. A whole page has beendedicated to the Irish puppet.

He talks about his trip to the UK where he met Philip Schofield and Fearne Britton on popular daytime show "This Morning." (read the interview here)

Also, it features "jokes of the week" and whats "hot turkey" and "cold turkey." Dustin talks about UK 2008 entrant Andy Abrahams with the headline "Bin Listening to Andy." In this piece he mentions that Andy used to be a binman and follows saying "…And people say my entry is a joke?!" Concluding this piece about Andy, Dustin says "…And I've already told him (Andy) that when I'm finished with the wheelie bin for my performance in Serbia he can have it."

Dustin mentions also about his meeting on a Spanish tv show with the Spanish entrant 2008 Rodolfo Chikilicuatre, describing him as "…a local loon with a quiff."He talks about having an interpretor translating English into Spanish for him on the show, saying that no interpretor was needed as "…I've told 'em not to worry I'm well used to talking to people who don't have English, as in RTÉ (Irish broadcaster) they make ya interview people from Kerry (a geographical region of south-westIreland)."

Dustin described also how he looked forward to being interviewedthrough Spanish: "I'm actually really looking forward to trying out some of the Spanish lingo (Spanish language) I've picked up, down through the years. Mostly from their students on The Dart (Dublin city suburban railway line) during the summer – simple Spanish phrases like 'Senior please stop staring, you are scaring me'. I'm not 100% sure what it means in Englishbut I think it's something like 'Mister, you are a beautiful creature, how do you keep your feathers so shiny?"

Ireland performs in slot 11 in the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest on May 20th.
