With So much love Ebonique ended up second in the Dutch Nationaal Songfestival of 2001. This year they entered the Dutch preselections with the song Heatwave, written by Gérard James Borg and Philip Vella, the forces behind Ira Losco's 7th wonder.
Ingrid Simons, Mieke de Jongh and Caroline Dest are Ebonique. In Tallinn, Ingrid Simons performed as backing vocal of Sergio, the Belgian entry. “Borg followed me the whole week and he kept saying that we should've won the Dutch final in 2001, he made me crazy! But after all it appeared he wanted us to try it again and so we did”, Simons said.
The song is about being in love and has a tropical atmosphere. Ingrid Simons thinks that their chances are not as high as in 2001, but they have peace with it. The song will be performed during the third preselection at February 15.
