About one week after the German national final, four of the five songs presented have reached the charts. The winners of the national final and German representatives at the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest are currently at #12 with Disappear.

The current standing in the German single charts:

  • No AngelsDisappear at #12
  • MarquessLa histeria at #20
  • Cinema BizarreForever or never at #44
  • Carolin FortenbacherHinterm Ozean at #71

The only national final song that is not in the charts yet is Just one woman by Tommy Reeve, but his single was released only on 9th March making it impossible to reach the single charts this week. If he manages to enter the charts this week, it will be the second time overall that all entries in the German final enter the single charts (the first time being in 2004). For Carolin Fortenbacher, who finished second only 1.0% behind the No Angels, it is her first appearance in the single charts.

Furthermore, Disappear is currently at #63 in the Austrian single charts and La histeria at #82 in the Swiss single charts.

Commercially, however, this year appears to be commercially less succesful than 2007 and 2006: In 2006, No no never became the second most sold single of the year and was a number one hit while in 2007, two of the three national final entries entered the top 10: Frauen regieren die Welt, the German entry, peaked at #7 and the Even heaven cries by Monrose even at #6.

Although Germany is a big four country and therefore directly qualified for the Eurovision Song Contest final on 24th May, the country has voting rights in the first semi final on 20th May, too. In 2007, Germany finished 19th with Roger Cicero and Frauen regiern die Welt.
