In the first ever esctoday.com national final BigPoll, the locals beat the internationals. Swedish readers correctly predicted the top four in the Melodifestivalen result! Carlotte Perrelli won the show, despite losing the televote to runner-up, Sanna Nielsen. International readers predicted BWO ahead of Sanna. In total, 6380 votes were cast in just 48 hours.
Swedish esctoday.com readers also predicted that Rongedal would take fourth place, international readers predicted that they would finish sixth. Both sets of readers correctly predicted the last two places. The main surprise compared to the prediction was Nordman rising to sixth place and Amy Diamond finishing in eigth place.
In total, Swedish readers correctly predicted six out of ten of the song's finishing positions. They were correct with the top four and last two positions. So, the first national BigPoll suggests that local readers are better placed to predict the outcome of their own national final.
