Les Humphries, head and founder of the Les Haumphries singers that represented Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 1976 in The Hague died in England last December. His ex-wife Dunja Rajter and his son Danny had kept his death a secret until a few days ago.

Les Humphries had a myocardial infarctionand died at a hospital in Basingstoke on 26th December 2007. Over the years, there have been many scandals around the musician, most notably a series of accusations of tax fraud which made himmove to in England in 1976. His band the Les Humphries singers is one of Germany's most succesful groups ever having sold about 40 million records. Their biggest hits were Mexico, Kansas City and Mama Loo, furthermore, Les Humphries is the composer of various theme songs of TV series and films.

The Les Humphries Singers originally finished second in the German national final in 1976 but would nevertheless represent Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest in The Hague as Tony Marshall was disqualified. Sing sang song was the first German entry composed by Ralph Siegel and it finished 15th out of 18 contestants. Les Humphries himself was not on stage as a singer, but he conducted the orchestra. Sing sang song was the last single by the group to enter the charts peaking at #45.
