It seems that one of most known and popular Eurovision stars Olivia Newton-John is preparing for the biggest and most important journey in her life – a journey for life without cancer and support for those who were diagnosed with the disease. There are two crucial things to help Olivia in this attempt. First one is her popularity and ability to attract media attention and another one is the fact that she herself also experienced breast cancer 15 years ago.

Olivia is preparing to walk 228 kilometers along the Great Wall of China together with her celebrity friends and all the people who are able and want to join in an effort to raise funds for the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre. Among the celebrities who will be joining her, Eurofans will recognise two-time UK representative in the Eurovision Song Contest Sir Cliff Richard as well as UK commentator Sarah Cawood.

Olivia says: "People are asking me why do you want to walk 200 kilometers along the Great Wall of China, up 40 degree gradients, across mountain ranges and through dust storms of the Gobi Desert. The answer is that this journey – this million steps towards the cure for cancer – started for me 15 years ago, when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. That life-changing experience has given me some true understanding and compassion for others walking that path – and I want to help. That's why I am so excited to be leading this walk on the Great Wall to raise money and awareness for the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre – these 21 days on the Wall will be another part of my own journey."

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain. I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
