Already before this year’s contest it was announced that a good result in Vienna would lead to using the same mechanism of using Keshet Broadcasting’s HaKochav Haba (Rising Star) for choosing the Israeli entry to Eurovision Song Contest 2016.

The national selection is now officially called HaKochav Haba Le’eyrovizion 2016 (The Rising Star for Eurovision 2016), for highlighting the fact that the winner of the contest will go to Eurovision.

The same jury from the previous season will continue to the upcoming one, including Assaf Etedgi, Keren Peles, Mookie and Harel Skaat (Israel’s representative for Eurovision 2010)

A new logo was released, featuring the new name, as well as a promo video, featuring a singer being sent right away from Israel to the arena in Stockholm. Watch it here:

It has been revealed that the new season will kick off on 5 December. We are expected to have 15 episodes in the way to find the Rising Star. It is also highly possible that the song will be chosen internally, although nothing is confirmed so far.

This year, Israel has managed to reach the Top 10 for the first time since 2008 and the final for the first time since 2010, when Nadav Guedj, who won the previous season of Rising Star, made the crowd dance to his golden tunes.
