The Italian Ministry of Communications has issued a special stamp in honour of the country's 1958 entry in the Eurovision Song Contest Nel blu di pinto di blu also known as Volare worldwide. The official presentation of the stamp is tonight at the opening of the San Remo festival.

Although it placed third in the 1958 Eurovision Song Contest, Domenico Modugno's Nel blu di pinto di blu, is still one of the most popular songs of the contest having achieved 94 recorded versions in various languages, global chart success, a Grammy Award and immense popularity among people of all ages worldwide until today. In honour of the song, Italy has issued a special stamp which was released today and will be officially presented at the opening of the 2008 San Remo festival.
