Less than 24 hours are left for fans to vote for their favourite Spanish entries on the Salvemos Eurovision online voting poll. The 5 candidates with the most votes will proceed to the Spanish national final along with another 5 candidates elected by an expert jury. Online voting kicked off on the 16th of February and will cease tomorrow midnight with more than 500 candidates in the running.

TVE, the Spanish national broadcaster came up with a very fresh approach this year in order to choose its 2008 Eurovision entry,using Myspace. More than 500 artists submitted songs to the broadcaster. Spanish fans have been voting for nearly 10 days, although the process has been troubled by possible vote tampering and site closures early on. After midnight tonight we will know which 5 acts will proceed to the grand final when the online voting will finally be closed. So far more than 1 million votes have been cast.

Currently Antonio Gonzalez aka El Gato, a 70 year old man, is leading the online voting poll with his songLa Biciclitera. In 2nd place and not so far behind is Rodolfo Chikilicuatre

Coral and Mayte, the Spanish Eurovision fan favourites, who were among the top 5 earlierhave dropped to 6th and 7th place respectively.There is still time to cast your votes and vote for your favourite entry.
