OGAE Greece held their first pre-Eurovision final gala in Athens on Wednesday 20 February. All three Greek finalists were present to meet and greet the fans, sign autographs and sing their entries.
About 250 fans and members of the Greek press and media gathered this past Wednesday at the Athinaion Politeia (the 2006 Eurocafe venue) to meet Chryspa, Kostas Martakis and Kalomoira, the three young singers fighting for the chance to succeed Sarbel for Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest. The gala was organised by OGAE Greece and this first attempt – with all three finalists invited- was a resounding success.
Chryspa was the first to arrive and she was immediately surrounded by the all-present members of her fan club as well as the other guests of the party. She tirelessly talked to the fans, was photographed with them and signed autographs. We asked Chryspa to tell us about the surprise she is preparing for the night of the Greek final: " Just like you did not expect to hear a song like A chance to love from Chryspa, you will see a surprise show on Wednesday, much more spectacular than usual. The show will be choreographed by Garry Mardon and there will be an all-male ballet with me on stage."
Next to arrive was Kostas Martakis, accompanied by his choreographer Irina. Kostas was happy to talk to the fans and press but refused to disclose his surprise for the final: "It won't be a surprise then, will it?" he smiled. Kostas had to leave the party early as he was expected at the ERT studios for a shoot.
Last to arrive was Kalomoira, she was practically kidnapped by the numerous reporters from all major Greek TV channels. Kalomoira told us that she is focused entirely on her rehearsals now having just returned from an express trip to New York. She exclusively revealed to us that she, as well, will be accompanied on the Athinon Arena by an all male-ballet. Kalomoira's act will be choreographed by Maria Lyraraki, who worked with Sakis Rouvas and Sarbel (Greece 2004 and 2007).
Towards the end of the night, and while Antonis Karatzikos, president of OGAE Greece, was playing music for the guests, both Kalomoira and Chryspa were lifted high up and they performed their songs much to the delight of the fans present.
