Dora 2008 winners Kraljevi Ulice will be back singing on the streets of Zagreb tomorrow morning, most probably on the main square outside the city's biggest market.
They have the support of the mayor of Zagreb Milan Bandić, who was cheering them on from the front row in Opatija and came on stage with the winners when they reprised their song Romanca. He said: "Zagreb has already shown that it is the best city in the world. Zagreb can do anything! God willing, we can bring Eurovision to the heart of our city next year." The president of Croatia Stipe Mesić wished them luck on the eve of Dora, saying "I simply love music which is my life."
The winners are not letting this success go to their heads.
"This is truly third time lucky for us. Thank you very much for voting for us in 2006, 2007 and this year. We are going to Belgrade to bring Eurovision to Zagreb"
Aleksandar Kostadinov, head director of Dora, commented that this was the first Dora since 2005 where the winners were not booed.
"Kraljevi ulice at Eurovision as street musicians will interest foreign journalists. Their song is also a real hit."
Rapper Laci, who has changed his stage name to 75 cents, says he will not get carried away with his success, and that he will put his Dora trophy in a safe place where nobody can touch it!
Lead singer, composer and lyricist Hadi cried as he hugged his trophy, remembering the group's second places in 2007 and 2006.
With their persistence and agreeableness, the eternal runners-up are finally winners – third time lucky!
