BTRC, the Belarusian national broadcaster has announced today that Belarus will select its Eurovision entry for the forthcoming 2016 Eurovision Song Contest via a national selection which will culminate in a national final.
The 2016 Belarusian Eurovision entry and act will be determined via public voting (televoting/sms voting) during a televised national final. The Belarusian broadcaster will release further details regarding its 2016 Eurovision national selection by 23 October. The rules and regulations for the 2016 Belarusian national final will be published on BTRC’s official website.
The finalists for the 2016 Belarusian national final will be determined by a special committee (professional jury) appointed by BTRC.
In 2015 Belarus selected its Eurovision entry via a national final. Uzari & Maimuna were awarded the golden ticket to Vienna with their entry Time. Despite an energetic performance the country failed to qualify to the grand final.
Belarus debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004 and is yet to win the event. The country’s best result in the contest was in 2007 with Koldun‘s Work your magic, when Belarus placed 6th.
The 2016 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 10, 12 and 14 May at the Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.
