Spain will become the second country to postpone their national final to select the country's Eurovision Song Contest final. After Serbia announced the postponement of Beovizija on Monday due to the inappropriateness of the timing, Spanish broadcaster, TVE has confirmed to esctoday.com that their national final will be postponed by 1 week after problems with the voting procedures through the MySpace website.

The Spanish final was due to take place on March 1st following submissions from artists via their MySpace pages. The submitted songs are currently being voted on via the competition's official MySpace page, however the system has been plagued with problems. Voting was delayed by 48 hours after the site crashed under pressure from visitors on the opening day. Since then, additional problems with vote recognition and attempts to unfairly push votes for particular candidates.

The new date is expected to be confirmed for the 8th March, however there are elections in Spain the following day. This means that it is unlikely that an online broadcast will be made, and the international satellite channel, TVEi may broadcast election coverage rather than the show. For this reason, the broadcaster has not yet ruled out a further delay, holding the show on 15th March.

News of the delay has not yet been communicated to the media, and esctoday.com will bring you more news as soon as the broadcaster issues a press statement.
