Cyprus: CyBC will most likely participate in Eurovision 2016

CyBC, the Cypriot national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday that Cyprus will most likely participate at the forthcoming 2016 Eurovision Song Contest, whilst we yet await an official confirmation.

CyBC is yet to determine the mechanism it will use to select its Eurovision entry and act if it is to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest next year. So far a total of 14 countries have confirmed their participation at next year’s Eurovision edition; Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Germany, Switzerland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland and France.

The 2016 Eurovision Song Contest, scheduled to be held on the 10, 12 and 14 of May at the Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.

Cyprus selected its Eurovision entry and act via a national selection. John Karayiannis represented Cyprus at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest with his entry One thing I should have done.

Cyprus debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981 with Island and is yet to win the event. The country achieved its best placing in the contest in 1981 with Anna Vissi, in 1997 with Hara and Andreas and in 2004 with Lisa Andreas when it came 5th in the competition.
