The BBC have confirmed to esctoday.com that there will be no press launch for the United Kingdom's Eurovision Song Contest national selection this year. Instead, details will be released through the press office in the near future, expected to be next week.

In recent years, a press launch to announce the artists participating in the United Kingdom's national final has been held about three weeks prior to the show. It is an opportunity the press to meet the participating artists and hear the songs for the first time.

This year, the details will be announced through the press office and there will be no official press launch event. The BBC are still not confirming any details about the event other than the date and location of the broadcast. Does this mean that there will be a change in the format of the selection this year? We will know soon.

The United Kingdom will air the second semi final of the Eurovision Song Contest and the public will be able to vote on May 22nd. The country is automatically assured of a place in the final on 24th May.
