The show has begun. We start with a recap of the six songs that have already made it to the national final this Saturday.

The performances tonight are actually videos of the semi final performances.

1. PodiumLystgass

Lystgass is a classic rock song thatmight have no high recognition valueon MTV but would probably stand out in the Eurovision Song Contest. The performance is classic for the genre (yes, there are fireworks!) with the band all in black and the stage in silver and green, which adds a nice colour contrast. The song title is indeed creative and that it is performed in Norwegian makes the song something special.

2. TinkerbellsHold on

This is alaid-back country song that could have been performed by the Dixie Chicks a few years ago. The hookline is definitely catchy and this one could become hit on the radios if country was popular in Norway. The vocals are very good, nevertheless, this is one of the entries tonight that could have profited from a more creative performance.

3. ZumaAlways, always

A disco pop song performed by an angry looking man wearing a black suit that makes him look like taking part in a funeral service (or an office meeting). This is a very catchy entry indeed and very 1980s! Has a slight comedy feeling though.

4. Anne HvidstenA little more

The singer has a very strong guitar pop song in the competition that could well be a hit on the radios (nevertheless, we do know that these songs are usually not very sucesful in Eurovision Song Contest national finals). The silver dress and the yellow stage fit very well and are not as over-the-top as the customary wind machine is. Overall a pleasant performance by the charismatic singer. Off the record it has to be said that her microphone looks too big.

5. Ole IvarsSom i himmelen

Ole's front singeris one of the more mature performers in this year's Melodi Grand Prix. This is an entry that could have taken part in any Eurovision Song Contest from 1956 to 1969 and reminds of various Scandinavian entries from the early years. (In other words: it is pretty dated). The singer can show his experience on stagebut nevertheless this hecould not be called a potential winner. Still, an Olsen Brothers flashback is always possible.

6. Lene AlexandraSillycone Valley

No need to mention again thatthishas been the entry with the highest expectations since the very beginning. Nevertheless (or because?)this is a rather monotone Scandinavian disco pop song of a familiar kind. The performance is nice but could be more spectacular: Lene looks both like Gwen Stefani and Christina Aguilera and there are some background dancers and the hint of a choreography.

Guri Schanke, Norway's representative in the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest appears now as a special guest. Maybe we will get to know now if finally someone has come to dance with her. Her entry is this week's Eurovision Song Contest flashback.

Results: Ole Ivars in the final. Tinkerbells in the final.
