The Slovenian national songcontest (EMA 2002) is planned for provisionally February 15 and 16 2002. According to Aleksander Radic of RTVSLO the final will be spread over two nights, just like last year.

The songs for the final must be submitted before October 25 and the songs which will compete will be announced on November 30 this year. Approximately 30 songs can enter the final.

The rules state that all the composers and authors have to be Slovenian citizens and all songs must be written in one of the official languages of Republic Slovenia, which are Slovenia, Hungarian or Italian.
