The first semi final of EMA 2008, the Slovene selection for the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest, was held tonight. Ten songs were presented and the top five were chosen by televtoting to go forward to the national final this Saturday.

- Skupina Langa – Za svobodo divjega srca (#3 in the final)
- Johnny Bravo – Butn … Butn!!! (#5 in the final)
- Cole in Predsednik – Dober planet (#7 in the final)
- Turbo Angels – Zabava (# 9 in the final)
Eliminated:
- Gabriel, Slovenia United & Band Obcanov – Kako je ne bi imel rad
- Mirna Reynolds – Lepi fantje
- Dennis – Ni me sram
- Andraz Hribar – Corpomorto (jutri jadram naprej)
- Ylenia – Nasel si me
Slovenia has reached the final of the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time in Helsinki since the semi final has been introduced. Alenka Gotar fiinished 15th with Cvet z juga. The country has been waiting to finish in the top 10 again in the final since 2001.
