The winner of the last edition of Portugal's Pop Idol show, Operação Triunfo, has accepted the invtation to take part of the 2008 Festival da Canção. She was invited by the music producer Carlos Coelho and will compete to win Portugal's ticket to the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade.

Vania feels very happy to take part in the Portuguese national final. She won the talent search program with 44% of the votes and walked away with a 75,000 Euro scholarship and a record deal. During the shows, she was highly praised by the jury for her powerful voice and strong stage presence.

AtFestival da Canção shewill sing a "mediterranean powerballad" which "will suit her voice perfectly", revealed Carlos Coelho in an exclusive to esctoday.com. Vania is 23 years-old and comes from the Island of Madeira, in the Atlantic Ocean.
