The third and last semi final of Norway's Melodi Grand Prix, the national selection for the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest, was held tonight. Another two songs were chosen to go directly to the final with the third and fourth places songs entering the second chance round.
The results:
To the final:
- Torstein Sødal – Eastern wind
- King of Trolls – Far away
To the second chance:
- Lene Alexandra– Sillycone Valley
- Ole Ivars– Som i himmelen
Eliminated:
- Avalanche –Two monkeys on the roof
- Maria Trøen–Hear when I'm calling
The complete line-up for the second chance round on 6th February:
- Anne Hvidsten – A little more
- Zuma – Always, always
- Tinkerbells – Hold on
- Podium – Lystgass
- Lene Alexandra– Sillycone Valley
- Ole Ivars– Som i himmelen
The results only slightly agree with the betting odds. Torstein Sødal was predicted last but went directly to the final, Lene Alexandra was the second favourite but only managed to enter the second chance round and so did Ole Ivars, who was only seen fifth. Nevertheless, the hot favourite King of Trolls went directly to the final.
In 2007, Norway was represented by Guri Schanke who finished 18th in the semi final with Ven a bailar conmigo. Itwas the first time that Norwayisdid not takepart in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest since the semi final was introduced in 2004.
