The song Blue skies are for free is not disqualified from the preselections of the Dutch national final. One of the writers of the song, Eric Dikeb, told that to esctoday.com this morning.
Paul de Leeuw, former host of the Nationaal Songfestival, was the performer of the song initially, but he took a six month sabbatical to take care of his second adopted son. Now two background singers of the Dutch celebrity René Froger will sing it.
Singer and songwriter Eric Dikeb told us that the news the song was disqualified was a hoax: “We called the Dutch broadcaster NOS this morning and they didn't know anything about disqualification, so the song will participate in the preselection”, he told us on the phone.
Today the song will be recorded again for a better quality, this Wednesday it can be heared on the radio for the first time (in the show ruuddewild.nl at 3FM).
