The Netherlands: Edsilia Rombley will announce Dutch votes in Vienna

Dutch artists and former Eurovision-participant Edsilia Rombley will announce the Dutch votes during the final of the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, Austria.

Edsilia Rombley did not only participate in the Eurovision Song Contest herself, in 1998 with the song Hemel & Aarde (achieving the 4th place) and in 2007 with the song On Top Of The World (achieving the 21st place in the semi-final), but she is also the sister-in-law of this years’ Dutch Eurovision-participant, Trijntje Oosterhuis: Edsilia is married to Trijntje’s brother, composer and producer Tjeerd Oosterhuis.

Trijntje Oosterhuis is very happy that her sister-in-law and friend will deliver the Dutch votes in Vienna. Watch below how she was surprised with the news in the show Aan De Slag! on Dutch radio-station NPO Radio 2:

Edsilia Francisca Rombley (Amsterdam, 1978) is a popular pop-, soul- and R&B-singer in The Netherlands. Her career started in 1995 with the group Dignity, but her breakthrough came in 1996 when she won the Dutch TV-show Soundmixshow with a cover of Oleta Adams‘ song I Just Had To Hear Your Voice.

In 1997 Edsilia Rombley won the European Soundmixshow with the same song by Oleta Adams, adding to her international fame.

In 1998 she represented The Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest in Birmingham, United Kingdom, achieving a honourable 4th place, and in 2007 she participated in the ESC in Helsinki, Finland, achieving the 21st place in the semi-final.

Edsilia Rombley is married to Tjeerd Oosterhuis, and the couple have two children: Imaani (a name inspired by Edsilia’s fellow Eurovision-participant from the United Kingdom at the ESC 1998, Imaani Saleem) and Aisa-Lynn.

In 2015 The Netherlands will be represented by Trijntje Oosterhuis, Edsilia Rombley’s sister-in-law, at the 60th Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, Austria. Trijntje Oosterhuis will sing the song Walk Along, written by Anouk (Eurovision 2013), during the first semi-final on Tuesday the 19th of May 2015, from position four. Edsilia Rombley will present the Dutch votes during the final of Eurovision 2015 on Saturday the 23rd of May 2015.
