A mix-up, caused by two songs having the exact same title in the Romanian preselection for the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest, was discovered and amended by TVR today. The previously announced semi finalist Follow me by Alexandra Bădoi is replaced in the line up by Follow me by VH2 who were actually the ones to score higher with the jury.

As announced today by TVR, the Romanian broadcaster, the previously announced qualifier Follow me by Alexandra Bădoi, was not the one that had scored higher with the jury. The actual qualifier was VH2 with another song with the exact same title. Alexandra scored 77 points while VH2 131,5 but an error while transferring the results reported Alexandra's song to enter the Romanian semi finals. The mistake was discovered during the manual checking of the results and the rightful winner was restored in the line-up.

What remains to be seen now is what TVR's ongoing investigation regarding allegations about various songs being in violation of the 1st October deadline rule will produce. Read more about it here.

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain. I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
