Finally, the hype is over, SVT have announced the final four acts to participate in Melodifestivalen 2008. As correctly predicted by esctoday.com last night, Carola and Andreas Johnson return with a duet, Niklas Strömstedt makes debut as solo artist, and two brand new acts for Melodifestivalen come in the form of Amy Diamond and Eskobar.

Niklas Strömstedt is back as wild card in Melodifestivalen with the song För många ord om kärlek. Last time he entered was in 2006 when he and Anders Glenmark wrote the song Lev livet for Magnus Carlsson. He also wrote winning song back in 1992 Imorgon är en annan dag, performed by Christer Björkman. In early nineties he had commercial success with the song and album called Om. He has toured with Tomas Ledin, Orupand Lena Philipsson and translated the musical Mama Mia to Swedish. Now, in 2008 Niklas Strömstedt debuts as an artist in Melodifestivalen. He will also release a brand new album, first album since 2001. Niklas will performe the song För många ord om kärlek (Too many words about love) in the forth semi final in Karlskrona.

Amy Diamond, only 15 years , has been a popular artist in her home country since 2005 when she had her breakthrough with the hit What's in It for me. Amy, who will be eligable to compete as a 16 year old by the time of the first semi final, will sing Thank you. She has already released three albums and nine singles. She has toured with stars like Pernilla Wahlgren, Jessica Andersson and Lotta Engberg. Now she ready for Melodifestivalen, and will be 16 years old I April, so that will not be any problem if she will win and go to Eurovision Song Contest. She will performe the song Thank You in semi final in Göteborg.

Eskobar is a Swedish pop group that will perform Hallelujah New World. They started back in 1995 and have released four albums to date. They are most famous for their big hit from 2002, Something new, a song they recorded together with Heather Nova. It was the second biggest hit on radio show Tracks Top 100 that year. They will performe the song Hallelujah New World in the third semi final in Linköping

Carola Häggkvist and Andreas Johnson team up this year for a duet with One love. Last time they were competitors, Carola won with Evighet/Invincible, BWO came second with Temple of love and Andreas´s Sing for me at third place in Melodifestivalen 2006. Andreas tried again in 2007 and came second place with A little bit of love. He had some international success with the 1999 hit single Glorious. Carola won in 1983 with Främling, in 1990 she came second with Mitt i ett äventyr and in 1991 she won Eurovision Song Contest with Fångad av en stormvind. Two years ago she made her comeback and came fifth place in ESC with Invincible. Now it’s time again, with the new song called One love inthe second semi final in Västerås.They performed on Monday a new song called Lucky star on Athletes award show on SVT. Today its been released as a download.
